Thirty-six Bay Mine Turns Green
Thirty-six Bay mining area is located in the north of Linwu County, covering an area of 48 square kilometers, including Mentouling, Tangguanpu, Liangjiangkou, Zhuanshuiwan, Famijiang, Nanjiling and other areas, involving four towns of Wanshui, Maishi, Xianghua and Chujiang in Linwu County and Dongshan agricultural and forestry sites. It is the birthplace of Taojiahe (Ganxi River) and Monkey River, tributaries of Chongling River in Xiangjiang River system. It is a lead-zinc polymetallic mining area. It is a lead-zinc polymetallic mining area, mainly storing 9 categories and 22 kinds of polymetallic intergrowth minerals, such as lead-zinc, tin, tungsten, copper, gold, silver, lithium and indium.
In the past, environmental pollution was caused by indiscriminate mining and excavation. In the face of such problems, the provincial Party committee and the provincial government attached great importance to it. In September 2013, Xiangjiang protection and governance was identified as the "No.1 key project" of Hunan provincial government, and three "three-year action plans" were implemented in a rolling way. Thirty-six Bay has been identified as one of the key control areas of "No.1 key project" of Xiangjiang River protection and control. Chenzhou City and Linwu County under its jurisdiction, in accordance with the requirements of the central government and the provincial government, successively closed more than 100 undocumented earth kilns, integrated the development and operation rights of the licensed mining areas, and comprehensively restored the riverbed of Ganxi river. The Thirty-six Bay mining area has taken on a new look.
According to the monitoring of the environmental protection department, the water quality of the two exit sections of Xiangjiang River Basin in Chenzhou City has been improved significantly after the thorough treatment of the Thirty-six Bay, and the three types of surface water standards have been maintained throughout the year.
